Our adoption philosophy

At Laws4Paws Rescue, we are dedicated to finding the perfect "fur-ever" home for each of our dogs. Our thorough adoption process ensures that every dog receives the love, care, and safe environment they deserve. We believe every dog deserves a second chance at a happy life, and we take pride in making lasting matches.

Adoption process

We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization licensed by the state of Colorado and regulated by our Department of Agriculture through PACFA (Pet Animal Care Facilities Act). This ensures we operate with the highest standards for the safety and well-being of our animals and the community. We work closely with local shelters to alleviate overcrowding, rescuing and rehabilitating dogs one at a time. Our commitment is to find the best possible homes, preventing them from returning to similar situations.

Step 1: Fill out an adoption form

Begin your journey by completing our comprehensive adoption application. This helps us understand your lifestyle, living situation, and what you are looking for in a companion.

Step 2: Phone interview

Our adoption coordinator will conduct a phone interview to discuss your application in more detail and answer any initial questions you may have about our dogs or the process.

Step 3: Home visit

To ensure a safe and suitable environment, we conduct a home visit. This verifies the address provided on your application and allows us to assess the safety and comfort for our dogs.

Step 4: Board member review and selection

The top applicants will be presented to our board members by our adoption coordinator, who will then carefully select the most fitting adopter for the dog.

Step 5: Adoption day!

Once selected, we will schedule an exciting day for you to officially adopt your new family member and bring them home.

Why adopt from Laws4Paws Rescue?

We pride ourselves on providing individualized care for each dog. We are not a high-volume facility and take our time to ensure each dog's specific needs are met. Our focus is on the welfare of each animal, not on numbers, making every adoption a thoughtful and meaningful placement.

Frequently asked questions about adoption

We understand you might have questions about adopting a new family member. Below are some of the most common inquiries we receive, along with our answers.

What is the price for adopting a dog?

We are a rescue, not a breeding facility, so we do not have a "price" for our dogs. We do require an adoption fee, which helps cover the significant medical needs of our rescued animals. Any funds exceeding these costs are allocated to a general pool to treat our older dogs or those who arrive needing extensive medical care.
